Wine

Wine, a traditional Portuguese drink, is drank a lot after dinners and at many social events. They have white wines, red wines, and green wines. Green meaning not the color, but the fact that this wine needs to be drunk "young". The term they use is called "Vinho Verde, which is very popular in the Minho province. Port wine is fortified wine of distinct flavor produced in Douro normally served with desserts. Vinho da Madeira, is a fine regional wine produced in Madeira similar to that of a sherry wine, which is mainly used to cook. The flavor is so distinct, because of the distillation of grape wastes which is made in a variety of brandies, called aguardente, which literally means, "burning water".

Adam and Lindsey eat chocolate covered crickets

Crunchy Chocolate Crickets

This is the extreme food of the week, a chocolate covered cricket. These slimy candies/insects are eaten and found worldwide. If you please it is possible for you to order them online.
Here is a video of a couple of people experiencing the crickets

Portuguese Cod (bacalhau)

Foremost amongst these is bacalhau (cod), which is the type of fish most consumed in Portugal. It is said that there are more than 365 ways to cook cod, one for every day of the year. Cod is almost always used dried and salted because the Portuguese fishing tradition in the North Atlantic developed before the invention of refrigeration - therefore it needs to be soaked in water or sometimes milk before cooking. The simpler fish dishes are often flavoured with virgin olive oil and white wine vinegar.

What is out There to Eat?

Since I enjoy food and learning new recipes, I would like to inform many people on the new dishes I learn, or even have them introduce new dishes to me. I have been around a lot of fine Italian foods my last five years, and work with a diverse staff. For example, my fellow co-worker Jose is originally from Portugal and has introduced many new dishes to me and my workplace.
As the week progresses i will be introducing many new types of food from chicken and rice dishes to delicious deserts. I will display and describe many foreign dishes from where they were originated to the ingredients needed.
